BEFORE 10,000 BC Paleolithic Ages characterised by use of tools like hand axe, cleavers, found in Soan (now in Pak) Belan Valley (in Mirzapur, UP); stone tools like scrapers, borers, blades, burins, etc., made with flakes found in Soan, Narmada and Tungabhadra rivers and Andhra, Maharashtra, Bhopal and Chota Nagpur Plateau.
BEFORE 6000 Mesolithic tools found in Chotanagpur, Vindhyas, Birbhanpur in West Bengal, Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, Belan in MP, Bagor, Telure, Langhnejgunj, and Sarai Nahar Rai.
3000-2600- Harappa Civilisation
2500-500 VEDIC ERA: composition of Rig Veda; Indo-Aryan rule (BC 750) over 16 mahajanapadas (states) between Indus river and Ganges; Upanishads composed in Sanskrit.
550 Birth of Mahavira; Jainism founded.
563-483 Buddha who was Prince Gautama Siddharta of Lumbini , attains nirvana. King Bimbisara, the great nirvana. King Bimbisara, the great monarch of Magadha's rule. Son, Ajatasatru rules (492 BC - 460 BC) the king of the Magadha empire in north India and contemporary of both Mahavira and Gautama Buddha.

336-323 Alexander the Great conquers Asia, moves to India.
327 Alexander the Great, the Macedonian king invades Punjab (NW India) ruled by king Porus after subduing Syria, Egypt, and Persia.
326 Alexander makes an alliance with Ambhi, king of Taxia and their combined force defeats the Purushottama (Porus) in the Battle of Hydaspes.
324 Dhana Nanda was the last king of Nanda Empire. The conquest of the Nanda Empire under Dhana Nanda by a force under Chandragupta Maurya led to the establishment of the Maurya kingdom - comprised Afghanistan and parts of central Asia.
323 Alexander the Great, dies.
321 Rise of the Mauryas (Chandragupta Maurya) in Magadha after defeating Nanda Dynasty and Seleucid empire.
